Elton was contacted by dispatch on 8/22/11 at approx. 1430 hours to respond with the Brush 2 (DNRC type 6) to provide mutual aid for a fire on Bear Springs Road in the Denton area. Heath responded with a crew of 3 which included Elton, Mike Jensen, and John Jensen.

As we arrived at the fire, the Heath crew was sent to an area where the fire was making a run some grain bins. Heath, along with 3 other trucks stopped the fire and proceded to mop up the area.

We then, refilled the truck and was dispatced to a very deep coulee with some timber and heavy grass and very steep slopes. Mike and Elton proceeded down the slope with hoses and attacked the hot spots which included downed trees and patches of brush. Foam was utilized for to conserve water and have a longer lasting effect on the fire in the rugged terrain.

After taking care of our area, we then proceeded to head back to a stock pond to refill. In drafting from the pond we encountered problems with the pump and notified the IC that we would be returning home.

The entire fire was controlled at this time and was estimated to be 402 acres.

Brush 2 is located at Mike Jensen's but is out of service until the pump gets repaired. Mike is preparing the other DNRC truck that was obtained from Grass Range and should be in service today and will be located at Mike's for now. Tender 2 is at Mikes and ready for service.

Engine 430 and Tender 1 are located at the fire hall and ready for service.
